Security Ambassador – Store Security

Zupan’s Markets is hiring a full-time Security Ambassador to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers and employees at its Burnside and Macadam stores in Portland.

This customer-facing security position combines store patrol, surveillance monitoring, incident response, de-escalation, report writing, and customer service. The Security Ambassador works closely with store leadership, employees, local law enforcement, and other security professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor activity inside and around the store
• Greet customers and provide professional customer service
• Help discourage theft, disorder, trespassing, and other unlawful activity
• Monitor surveillance cameras for suspicious activity or disruptions
• Communicate security concerns to store managers and department leaders
• Control entrances and exits according to store procedures
• Address trespassers and policy violations
• De-escalate confrontational, intoxicated, or distressed individuals
• Prepare detailed daily activity and incident reports
• Communicate clearly using two-way radios
• Respond calmly and professionally during emergencies
• Perform CPR or first aid when necessary
• Coordinate with law enforcement and outside security companies when appropriate

Under limited circumstances, the Security Ambassador may be required to detain a subject while following applicable laws and company procedures until law enforcement arrives.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must pass a DMV record check and criminal background check
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to remain professional during difficult or hostile encounters
• Strong attention to detail and report-writing ability
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work independently
• Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Previous security or law-enforcement experience is preferred but not required

Zupan’s Markets states that the selected applicant must complete CPR/First Aid training and Basic Security Certification. Both forms of training are paid for by the company.

Physical Requirements

The position requires extended periods of standing and walking, frequent use of stairs, bending, stooping, and the ability to move quickly when responding to incidents. Work may take place both inside and outside the store and may include exposure to wet surfaces, temperature changes, and continuous background noise.

This is a full-time position serving the Zupan’s Burnside and Macadam locations in Portland, Oregon.
