Salem Health is hiring a Security Officer to help provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare employees at Salem Hospital. This full-time hospital security position focuses on campus patrol, emergency response, incident reporting, investigations, and maintaining a safe healthcare environment.

Hospital Security Officers play an important role in preventing workplace violence, assisting staff, responding to security concerns, and supporting a healing environment throughout the hospital campus.

Security Officer Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital buildings, grounds, and parking areas
• Respond to security calls and emergency situations
• Assist with patient, visitor, and staff safety concerns
• Provide escorts and public assistance
• Investigate incidents and gather information
• Complete detailed security reports
• Coordinate with law enforcement when necessary
• Respond to disruptive behavior and workplace violence situations
• Maintain a professional and customer-service focused presence

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• At least two years of driving experience
• Previous security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Healthcare security experience preferred

Required Certifications

• Oregon DPSST Unarmed Security Professional certification within 30 days of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days
• Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW/Taser) certification within 90 days
• FEMA/NIMS hospital security courses including IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 within one year
