Legacy Health is hiring a full-time Safety Security Associate Officer at Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.
This hospital security position pays $20.24–$28.93 per hour and works 12-hour day shifts for approximately 36 hours per week.
The officer helps maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff. Duties may include monitoring designated areas, assisting visitors, protecting hospital property, observing behavioral-health patients, staffing a security desk, and operating enhanced security-screening equipment.
Job responsibilities
Monitor the safety of patients, employees, visitors, and physicians.
Protect hospital buildings, equipment, and other physical assets.
Provide courteous assistance and information to visitors.
Observe assigned areas, patients, or objects as directed.
Staff security desks and screening stations when assigned.
Operate X-ray scanners, walkthrough metal detectors, and handheld detectors.
Conduct permitted searches of belongings or individuals when necessary.
Write clear reports and communicate effectively with hospital personnel.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Security, corrections, military, first-responder, behavioral-health, emergency-room, or customer-service experience is preferred.
Strong customer-service, communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
Ability to remain attentive and manage busy screening or queue areas.
A satisfactory driving record and valid state driver’s license are preferred.
DPSST and certification requirements
A current Oregon DPSST unarmed professional certification—or temporary PS-20 certification—is required within 14 days of placement. Full unarmed certification must be obtained within 120 days of starting in the department.
Healthcare Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association is also required within 14 days. Legacy-approved de-escalation training must be completed within 120 days.
