Providence is hiring an on-call Security Officer for Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. The officer performs protective security duties to safeguard patients, visitors, caregivers, physicians, facilities, and hospital property.

This hospital security role involves enforcing Providence and facility policies, identifying safety risks, responding to emergencies, investigating incidents, and maintaining a professional security presence throughout the medical center.

Security Officer Responsibilities

  • Patrol hospital buildings, grounds, parking areas, and assigned facilities
  • Protect patients, visitors, caregivers, physicians, property, and equipment
  • Respond to security incidents and emergency situations
  • Investigate suspicious activity, disturbances, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry
  • Enforce hospital security policies and regulations
  • Document incidents and prepare accurate security reports
  • Help address fire, safety, and accident-related hazards
  • Communicate with hospital staff, security leadership, and emergency responders
  • Assist with physical intervention or restraint when authorized and necessary
  • Maintain a calm, professional, and service-oriented presence

The role receives general direction from the Security Manager, Security Supervisor, or Lead Security Officer.

Required Qualifications

The posting requires one of the following Oregon credentials upon hire:

  • Oregon DPSST Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional certification
  • Oregon DPSST Unarmed Security Professional certification
  • Private Security Temporary Work Permit, PS-20

Driving may be required, and employees may need to provide proof of a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
