Job Description

Position Summary Join Salem Health’s Security team as a Protection Officer and help maintain a safe, welcoming, and weapon‑free environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role operates advanced detection systems, enforces safety protocols, and serves as a trusted presence throughout the hospital campus.

What You’ll Do

• Enforce Salem Health’s weapon‑free policy using advanced detection systems
• Monitor and report safety or security concerns to supervisors and field officers
• Coordinate with local law enforcement when needed
• Maintain accurate logs and generate incident/activity reports
• Use radios, phones, and communication tools to relay critical information
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff
• Respond to questions and concerns with professionalism
• Stay alert and observant to ensure a safe environment

Required Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, security, law enforcement, or military police
• Healthcare security or customer service experience preferred
• DPSST Unarmed certification within 1 month of hire
• NIMS HICS 100, 200, and 700 within 1 year of hire

Schedule & Position Details

• Part Time – 20 hours/week
• Non‑Exempt
• Schedule:
  • Thursday: 6:45 AM – 5:45 PM
  • Friday: 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
• Location: Salem Hospital, 890 Oak Street SE, Salem, OR 97301
• Pay:  $23.74 – $30.39
